Strategies for getting the best Sullivan's Island rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • In the Sullivan's Island area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Sullivan's Island area. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Sullivan's Island area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking the perfect Sullivan's Island vacation home:

  • First, have your group agree to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Charming Sullivan's Island Cottage! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Sullivan's Island attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review.
