Tips to get the perfect Sullivan's Island rental home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Sullivan's Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Sullivan's Island area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
