Booking the best rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Sullivan's Island area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best rental in Sullivans Island:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Haven by AvantStay
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Sullivan's Island attraction you long to visit, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
