Strategies to get the perfect Sullivan's Island vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summertime is high season in the Sullivan's Island area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Sullivan's Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Sullivan's Island area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the best rental:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Raven by AvantStay
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
