Booking the best Sullivan's Island vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Sullivan's Island area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best vacation home in Sullivans Island:

  • Start by having your family decide on dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Fun Beach House has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
