Strategies for getting the best Sullivans Island rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Sullivan's Island vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Sullivan's Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Sullivan's Island area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Sullivan's Island rental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Fun Beach House has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Sullivan's Island beach you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
