Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Sullivan's Island attractions and restaurants.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Sullivan's Island area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the perfect rental home in the Sullivan's Island area:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Sullivans Retreat Amazing Views on Conch Creek, Pet Friendly 30 Night Min. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Sullivan's Island vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Sullivan's Island attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
